I love Old Manila! I used to think I was born in the wrong period and I should have been contemporaries with Maria Clara. We would have been BFFs and probably be part of the “in” circle. I like the houses, the cobble-stoned roads, the language and even the food (which I’m guessing would be paella).
So when hubby suggested that for our anniversary dinner, we try Bayleaf’s rooftop resto – Skydeck View Bar, right in the heart of Intramuros, I immediately said yes! The other option is the fancy restaurant in Tagaytay which I would have loved to go to the previous year. We’ll save that for another celebration.
Anyway, I was instantly enamored with the view. It’s the side of Manila I don’t get to see too often.
And even if it was a weeknight, the place was full. Good thing we had reservations for the buffet dinner.
The resto is being ran by the LPU culinary and HRM students (I assume) as it’s right beside the school, and the servers are young. The buffet selection is a bit limited but tasty. I particularly like the paella and the dessert bar. I wish I had pictures of the food, but since we came from the office and we don’t want to stay out late, we ate like 2 famished people who seem to have not eaten for a week.
The resto is a date place, although we saw quite a few groups celebrating birthdays. The ambience is nice, made even nicer by the chilly night and the view.
It was definitely one for the books! Hope we can bring the kids next time.
