A couple of days ago, I had a very quick trip to Singapore for work. It was super short that I stayed in the hotel less than 12 hours. Most of the time, we were out for meetings.
But anyhow, I still managed to take some shots and did a bit of shopping (not for me though) at H&M.
On the afternoon of our arrival, Singapore was experiencing haze brought about by forest fires in Indonesia.
But the following day, we started with some rains in the morning. Which I guess was a good thing to drive away the haze.
We stayed at The Orchard Hotel. It has a good location as we’re just a few steps away from the shopping malls.
The room is also just right. It’s not spacious but enough to have 2 people in the room comfortably.
I’ve been to Singapore a couple of times and have stayed in all kinds of places – from old hotels to friends’ apartments to ritzy five stars. Not much difference if you talk about cleanliness and general upkeep. What matters, for me anyway, is the location. And this would depend on the reason you are in there in the first place.
If you are to see Sentosa and USS, look for a place to stay in Sentosa or near Vivo City. If you want to experience Singapore at night, better to look for hotels in Clarke Quay. For shopping, check in at hotels along Orchard – there are a lot! If work is what brings you there and it’s near the airport, best bets will be East Coast and Marine Parade areas.
But of course, if you have the moolah and you can splurge, check out Marina Bay Sands. You get to stay in Singapore’s version of Burj (in my opinion) and get nice view of the city.
Wish I had more time to go around and look for Christmas finds. I remember one time I was in Singapore, it was close to Christmas Day and got most of my gifts there.
