Rica X Oster Kitchen Conversations

Last Saturday was one of the best Saturday afternoons I’ve had in quite a long time.  It was a couple of hours well-spent with good food (that we’ve helped prepare), good conversations and good hosts – Rica Peralejo-Bonifacio and Oster.

I was lucky to have been part of Rica X Oster Kitchen Conversations.

It was drizzling when Joni (my colleague and the force behind my blog – well, because she hosts this hihi) and I arrived at Oster’s headquarters.  We were warmly welcomed by Carla (hope it’s okay for me to call her that instead of Rica as it feels more real somehow) and these –

Silly me as I forgot to take a photo of the kitchen set-up prior us invading it as I was a bit overwhelmed with the various gadgets and ingredients laid out.  But I was comforted with the thought that like me and Joni, Carla’s also a novice in the kitchen and the Oster group, Chef Marian and her team, had been very helpful and supportive.

The order of the day was for us to prepare…all of these –

We started with the Tropical Smoothie.  It was made easy with Oster’s MyBlend blender. See me here working my arms to prepare a drink.

Not just an ordinary drink but a smoothie with oranges, pineapple and ginger (this is optional) and milk.  Perfect for summer!

Then we moved on to preparing Corn and Cheese Spread.  This one I can definitely do at home.  And I love the cheese!!!

Again, very easy to prepare – you just need to put it in Oster’s oven toaster.

I liked it so much I put it in my fajita as well.  Instead of just placing mayonnaise, I spread the cheese and corn as my base then added the grilled vegetables (which we prepared using Oster’s indoor grill) topped with sirloin steak grilled to perfection using Oster’s double-contact grill.

Then we prepared our main course – Spanish rice. I paired this with Crispy Tofu deep-fried using a rice cooker!  I was surprised that the Oster rice cooker can be used in multiple ways.  We used it to cook the rice and fry the tofu.  Talk about being “sulit”.

Then there was dessert – Stuffed Strawberry Cheesecake prepared using Oster’s hand/ stand mixer.  Look how creamy it is!

Thank you so much Carla for the invite!  I never thought we would meet and more so, hang out to talk about life, family and kids!  Your husband, Joe and darling boy, Philip are sure lucky to have you – you’re humble, down-to-earth and super nice.  Wish we could have made more chika. 🙂
