I read from somewhere that you know you’ve grown up when you can’t wait to go home and spend time with family than go out (or something like that), and I guess it’s true for me. When I was in my 20’s, you can rarely see me home especially on weekends as I travel a lot, both for work and for leisure. I was blessed to have found a job that enabled me to go to new and different places.
When I got married and started my own family, I was again blessed to have stayed on my job but severely cut down on my traveling. I call it a blessing to have enjoyed all the adventures when I was still single so that I was more “settled” now. Because truth be told, I really like spending my free time with family now.
And I get sentimental very easily these days. For the past weeks, I’ve been attending a lot of family and family friends’ affairs – despedida for a priest friend, visiting a sick uncle (and then his wake), hosting a reunion in our ancestral house. I’m so happy to have been able to make time for these occasions and enjoyed the quality time spent with them.
This is probably just half the clan as most are based elsewhere and couldn’t make it. Can you believe that there are already 4 generations of Sulit? (Sulit is my maternal side)
Hope to have a reunion on my father’s side soon too…maybe July? 🙂
