Post-birthday Post

Oh wow, I can’t believe I haven’t posted any story for ages!  I guess there are just so many things happening that I wasn’t able to find time to sit down and write.

As you well know, I just turned 35 last week.  Hurray!  I was never one to hide my age so there…proud and fab at 35 🙂

I’ve always wanted to celebrate it in a different way, and thankfully, I was able to do just that.  A few days after my birthday, I had a simple party at Bahay Maria in Bel Air Village. It is a shelter for girls who were abandoned, orphaned or needed a place to stay.

The girls range from 3 to 22 years old.  And what’s nice about it, is that they go to regular schools. Basically, the center’s really just for them to have a place to call home.  Since it’s being run by sisters affiliated with Assumption, the girls are disciplined and organized.  You also know that they’re really taken cared of.

When we got there, the first thing that caught my attention was the space.  There’s really room for everybody and everything.  They have an office for the social workers, prayer room, a study room cum dining room, kitchen and rooms are on the 2nd floor (didn’t get to see this anymore though).

Then there’s a greeting for me – its simplicity hit me hard.

The program started with a Bring Me game conducted by my colleague, Onin.  Thanks super Onin and to your mom, Tita Cynthia!

Then the kids prepared 2 song numbers.  I wish I could upload the videos but I’m still getting the hang of it.  So  let me just share this photo taken while they’re still preparing.

Since the kids will hear mass at noon, lunch was immediately served.  I’m glad that they liked what we’ve prepared.

It might have been short and simple but it was very meaningful for me and my family.  I’m happy that my ‘lil daughter had found a friend in the shelter…I think another visit’s not far out.

Again, thank you very much to Bahay Maria for allowing me to celebrate my 35th there.  To my family and friends who have joined and contributed, maraming salamat!
